Assateague Island Jan.2016

 Chincoteague Pony Drawing

The Chincoteague Pony, sometimes called the Assateague Horse, live on Assateague Island. The island borders Maryland and Virginia on the Eastern Shore. The horse breed has lived on the island for hundreds of years, and is believed to have been brought there by settlers from Spain or shipwrecks. The ponies were officially registered as a breed in 1994.
Assateague Island has a Maryland State Park, and National Park land on the South end. My family has camped and taken day trips to the State Park numerous times.

I have met and become friends with some really nice people at Laurel Park. I met Cynthia Longo on Maryland Million Day. She was with Clark Shaffer that day. I also met photographer Jim Fleenor. His brother in law is a horse owner and trainer. Jim comes and shoots photos whenever his brother in law has horses on the card.

Had a great day today at Laurel Park! My son Joshua joined me for his first race card ever.
I gave my track friend Clark a drawing that I did of Sir Barton. Clarks Great Grandpop trained Sir Barton, the first Triple Crown in 1919.
I also got to finally meet my Twitter friend Dottie. She has become my TBR-BFF, and I am learning a lot from her. I gave her the drawing I did of Tapit, her favorite horse.
Over the fall, I got to be friends with Jockey Jevian Toledo. Today he signed a print for Dottie, and took a picture with Joshua.
The day was topped of by seeing one of Tapits offspring, Playful Love, race in the 8th.
